About Me & Contact

Originally a primary school teacher, I took time out to bring up my two children who have now established their own lives. Once they were school-age, I worked in publishing, in editorial and marketing departments.

As a mature student I gained a BA in Women's Studies & Environmental Studies at Kingston University in Surrey, and an MSc in Women, Culture and Society at Birkbeck College, London.

Humanist Celebrant

Being a non-religious humanist celebrant is most rewarding. I feel that the skills and experience I have built up over the years are fully realised in the role. It is a privilege to help families through these intensely emotional times and I enjoy enabling people to plan and participate in their milestone ceremonies.

I have been a humanist since discovering Humanism when we arranged a non-religious funeral for my mother. I became a celebrant nine years ago and have built up a wealth of experience working with people on hundreds of ceremonies of all descriptions. I can truly say that it is the best job I have ever had. I love meeting people and working with them, and enjoy leading ceremonies on the day. I like the variety of conducting namings, weddings and funerals and I appreciate the reward that comes from knowing I have enabled people to mark a life event in their own way.

'I just wanted to thank you for all your help with the service last week - we really felt like things ran smoothly and with a great deal of sensitivity from you'

'Your words, and the way you delivered them, were very uplifting for us all'.

'Thank you so much for making yesterday a day we will remember for all the right reasons.'

Humanists UK

It is important to me to be part of a national network of about 300 Humanists UK celebrants. The training by Humanists UK is highly professionalised and I value the ongoing professional support of Humanist Ceremonies in the form of a celebrants’ forum where we share advice and help, as well as contact and support from local humanist celebrants.

There is continuous professional development and an annual conference where we meet and exchange ideas with humanist celebrants from the UK and abroad, and all celebrants are covered by professional quality assurance procedures, and indemnity insurance.

I am based in Teddington, Middlesex and conduct ceremonies within reach of South West London and into Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and other counties within reach. I will travel anywhere with expenses charged accordingly.
